As an LSRCA Board Director, Tom supported the protection of more than 2,000 acres of environmentally-sensitive land. To mitigate climate change, he supported tree-planting programs, updating floodplains, and stormwater upgrades to protect homes from flooding. In 2025, he brought forward a motion for the Town of Newmarket to support provincial salt-use guidelines to reduce chloride runoff into streams, rivers, and Lake Simcoe.
