Downtown Parking Expansion
Newmarket’s award-winning summer events draw thousands of visitors, and to better accommodate both residents and out-of-town guests, over 150 new parking spaces were added at Riverwalk Commons in 2025.

Queen Street Bridge Rehabilitation
In 2025, the Queen Street Bridge between Main Street and Prospect Street was upgraded to strengthen its structure and reduce future maintenance, making it safer and more accessible for residents.

Yonge St. Expansion
To manage growth from Bradford and East Gwillimbury, York Region is widening Yonge Street to six lanes and adding a multi-use path for safer walking and cycling. Construction started in August 2025 and is expected to be complete by late 2027.

Main Street South of Davis Drive Revitalization
Tom supports plans to transform Main Street south of Davis Drive (SODA) into a lively, people-first village with shops, homes, green spaces, and public art.

Yonge/North Subway
As a Director on the York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRT) Board, Tom continues to advance transportation initiatives that improve travel for Newmarket residents both locally and throughout York Region. He is currently help oversee the $5.6 billion Yonge/North Subway extension. The fully funded first phase will bring the subway to Highway 7, with future plans to extend it north to Major MacKenzie Drive.
